march babies

So this weekend we celebrated Christian's and my dad's birthday! I had a very busy week with school, work and with preparing all the birthday arrangements. Wednesday was my dad's actual birthday so we headed down to Old Town Pasadena for dinner at The Melting Pot! Fondue yummyness occurred. I love having dinner with my family, and I love that we don't only do it on special occasions. It was a fun night and my dad had a great time!

The next day I worked 1-close so I was not too excited since I had to run all my errands for Christian in the morning. I bought him a cake at this yummy Cuban bakery that's in Old Town Monrovia; got him a red velvet cake, it's so good and his favorite. I went to work and put the delicious cake in our fridge while I worked my long shift. Then on my break I went to buy him his present and a card. I got him an ipod since his had broken on him a while ago, he's been meaning to buy himself one but I decided I would get him one instead. So after work I drove down to his place and we had a chicken salad for dinner and then proceeded to watch season five of Weeds. I had his cake and present in my car, ready to go once it turned midnight! I was so nervous, haha. So once it turned midnight I yelled out HAPPY BIRTHDAY! And ran to my car to grab the cake and present. He was surprised and super happy. He was so excited about the cake, and he knew exactly where I got it from. When he opened his present his was beyond happy! I love giving people presents, I pride myself in being a good gift giver. ;]

Later on in the afternoon we headed down to Long Beach to visit the Queen Mary. They do this Ghost and Legends of the Queen Mary tour before the regular tour and it's soo cheesy! We were laughing the whole time. After that we walked around the ship and read up on all the interesting history the ship has. We started to get hungry but we decided to grab a drink at the Observation Art Deco Lounge they had inside. It was super Art Deco and it was so neat to be in there having a drink. We then drove to dowtown LB to grab a late lunch/dinner. We decided to go to Rock Bottom Brewery. I had the Mac'n Chicken, it was soo yummy! And Christian had their BBq burger; I had a bite, it was super good! Their beer was pretty good too. We then headed back to his place where we cuddled for a bit before beer pong. It was fun and all his friends were there, hanging out and having a good time. Christian was super happy and it made me happy! We then headed out to this brewery by DTLA, it's in an artist community and it's a loft turned brewery, it's pretty neat! When you drive through the area you see a lot of the things that the artist's are working on. We had some more drinks and conversed, over all a really nice day! By the time we got back to Christian's place he was very tired, so that was that! Christian told me he had a great birthday, so mission accomplished!

Yesterday we had a surprise Luau Party for my dad's 44th! Everyone came over and it was a lot of fun! My dad had no idea. It's always fun to have everyone together, we have such a huge family that it's never a small get together even if we want it to be.

Right now I'm taking a break from reading my chapter for stats. I'm watching Life for now on the Discovery channel, it's really good! I had my first test of the semester on wednesday and I don't think I did so great...I'm bummed but I'm determined to do better on the rests of the tests! I won't let this bring me down. Tomorrow is a new week, new day, a fresh start. :]

Hope all is well!

Looking snazzy in Long Beach.

getting back into the swing of things

Hello!

So my winter intersession is over and I am so happy! 5 days a week, 3 hours a day of Algebra 2 for 6 weeks was just insane! Math has never been my strong point or one my favorite subjects so it really required me to focus. I had homework due everyday, loads of problems! So I didn't get a chance to do a lot of things. I feel so free now! It feels amazing to get back to my old routine.

I had a good weekend. Friday was my last day of class for winter so after my final I headed to the gym! I hadn't been in a while since, well I was super busy with my class. Before the gym I stopped by my Aunt Yanira's house to check on her puppies. Her dog Lola gave birth to 7 adorable little Maltipoos about 3 weeks ago. Oh my goodness they are just too cute! I practically died when I saw them. I want one so bad but we already have our hands full here at home with Dexter and Emma. After I played with them for a bit I then proceeded to go to the gym. It felt great to be back! I had a good work out and then headed on home to get ready to hang out with Christian. I didn't get to see him all week because I was so busy with hw and studying! It was really nice to see him. We didn't do much, we grabbed some noodles from Noodle World! Yummy stuff. Then we watched Aliens because he really wanted me to see it since I never had, so I indulged him. I enjoyed it so Christian was happy. We had a lovely night in!

Saturday was a good day as well! I worked a mid shift, after that I headed home and rested for a bit before I headed on over to Christian's. We had made plans to go to the Belgian Ale Fest at Lucky Baldwins in Pasadena. I've never been, but I always heard about how good it was. I met more of Christian's friends that night, I was a little nervous. I'm superrrr shy when I first meet people, I'm not the kind of person that can make conversation easily so meeting new people or being around new people is always a little nerve wrecking. In the end everything was fine and it was nice meeting more of his friends! We left Baldwin's around 11 and then went back to Christian's place where we got some pizza with his roommates, who joined us at the fest as well...boys love their pizza and beer! Before that we stopped by the liquor store so his roomie could get something to drink! There was this funny sign in the parking lot. I was tired by then so I went to sleep and soon there after Christian headed to bed as well. A nice finish to a fun night!

Sunday was great! It was really nice to have a whole day off. So I slept in and did nothing for a good while. Then I decided that it was time to go to the gym! After my work out I went home and rested some more before dinner. My family and I decided to go have dinner at Tokyo Lobby down in San Gabriel where we use to live when I was young. We use to go to the this restaurant all the time when I was younger. It's super cute with Japanese lanterns and fake cherry blossom tree all around. I love it! Food is great too, and reasonably priced! My sister's friend Sally joined us as well with her son Calvin. I love him to death! He is the most awesome baby ever. Overall I had a really nice weekend!

This week I started my Spring semester. I'm taking my last class before I transfer out and I am so excited! I'm ready to get out of here! I'm taking Statistics 18 which is stats for behavioral studies. So far I like the class! I might give me some trouble later on but that's okay since this is the only class I'm taking so I can focus solely on that. I'm also taking a spin class and we had our first mini workout today! I'm excited for this class. I love having time again! I hope every one's week is going great so far! Anything new going on? :]

They're soooo cute!!
Yay workout!
It was just too funny at the time.
Calvin is just the best!

Valentine's Day

A little late, but it's finals week! So I've been busy, busy! I woke up Sunday morning to my dad giving me a rose. He's so cute! Each year since I was young my dad would give my sister and I a rose, so Valentine's Day has never been a holiday that I've absolutely hated. It was Christian and I's first Valentine's Day! So I got up and started baking some sweets for my sweet Christian! I made him some brownie bite cupcakes and some heart shaped cookies Super yummy if I do say so myself. So that took up most of my morning. After that I relaxed for a bit and caught up on The Mentalist, if you like crime scene shows, you should definitely check it out, it has a quirky twist to it! Anyway, after that I started to get ready for dinner at Bottega Louie in Downtown, LA. I've been wanting to check this restaurant for some time now, so I was super excited when Christian told me that he had made reservations there! I finished getting ready and then I got all of Christian's little presents ready. I've been a little strapped for cash lately so I did not go all out like I would have liked to. I got him a nice shirt and a pair of shoes he's been wanting and a card of course! I also got him a bag of his favorite candy, which are Swedish Fish! And I framed a picture of us for him. :]

So I headed over to Christian's place around 5:30 since our reservations where at 7:30 so we could enjoy some champagne and exchange our presents. Christian had given me one of my presents the night before ,because he couldn't wait, which was a box of assorted chocolate truffles, yum! He is so sweet and thoughtful! He made me a card and a mix cd! He also bought me some beautiful roses and a gift certificate to the salon I go to. He listens so well! Not too long ago I mentioned, not on purpose ;], that I really needed to get my hair done, but the salon I go to is really pricey...and since my hours have been getting cut at work, I haven't had the funds to go. I'm really picky with who touches my hair since I have curly hair and I've had some horrible things happen to it when I've spent less on my hair. So it really is nice of him to do that because it's not cheap there. After that, we had some champagne and took pictures of ourselves all done up!

Then we headed off to the restaurant. When we got there we were seated right away since we had reservations. Normally they don't take reservations but Christian has a friend that got us one, which was really nice of him! Everything on the menu looked so good! We got the asparagus with fried egg as an appetizer which was super delicious! And for our entrees I got the ravioli stuffed with ricotta cheese and spinach and Christian got the trenne pasta and we both had some wine. It was all very good! For dessert we had some french macaroons, which were my absolute favorite when I was in France. Overall we had a very nice dinner! We then headed back to Christian's house to enjoy the rest of our night and some more wine. I'm so lucky and grateful to have Christian in my life. He makes me so happy! I had an amazing Valentine's Day, and I hope you all did too! What did you guys do?

Here are some pictures, Christian has the pictures from the restaurant so who knows when I'll be getting those, haha:
Cupcakes!
Makeup!
Outfit! Worn with black suede pumps!
All done up! :]

another weekend update

I'm so busy with work and school during the week so until this math class is over with (which is in two weeks! :]) the weekends are probably the only time I can make some sort of update. This weather has been horrible for my hair! I have curly hair, so when it rains it gets big! It's fun sometimes but I just wish it could be tame at other times.

Friday was an okay day, my body has just been wanting to get sick. Thursday my body was achy so that was no good. I woke up Friday morning not feeling so great, and I really didn't want to go to class but since I missed class on Thursday because of my doctors appointment, I made myself go, cough and all. After class my mom and my sister met up with me in Old Town Pasadena for some sushi. It was raining super hard, so our plans for doing some shopping were cut short. Plus I was sick and my mom can't do a lot of walking since she had her surgery, so I think that was for the best. After my mom and my sister left. I walked around in search of ideas for Valentine's Day. Probably not a good idea since I was sick and it was raining but at least I think I have it all planned out! :] After that, I had work from 5-cl, blah. My cough got pretty bad at work so it was a good thing I worked in the back since it is a lot warmer back there. After work, I headed home to take it easy and drank some hot tea and went to bed! Nothing too exciting.

Saturday was a nice day over all. I woke up a little early because Christian and I had a pancake breakfast planned! We went down to Leroy's which is a diner near my house, it's super good! I had pancakes and Christian had some belgian waffles, everything was really yummy. After breakfast we headed down to the mall to buy a baby shower present for Vanessa's sister Roxy. She's having a girl and naming her Marly Rose, super cute! I got Marly a cute little dress and a ducky. Hope Roxy liked it! Christian then dropped me off at home since he had plans for the afternoon and then I drove off to the shower. Pretty much everyone that I know was there, it was a huge shower, more of a friend thing. It was so adorable! I felt a little down since I was sick and couldn't enjoy much of the games since they were done outside, and it was freezing! Christian and I had other plans for the rest of the night so I left the shower around 8. It was good seeing all of my friends and I'm glad everyone had a great time, I think I would have been a party pooper if I would have stayed. When I left the shower, I really didn't feel good and when I got to Christian's house, we decided to just lay low. We grabbed some sushi and then cuddled and watched The Breakfast Club at his place. I ended up getting a little worse so Christian made me some hot tea and I took some medicine and I pretty much knocked out. We had a super cute night, even if I was a little under the weather.

So I woke up this morning feeling a little better, but still sick. I felt bad because I feel like I kept Christian up the whole night because of my coughing but he said he didn't hear a thing which made me feel better. We ended up watching Meercat Manner and playing Peggle on Xbox for most of the morning, so much fun! He then made us breakfast and some hot tea which was soo sweet of him! I then had to get ready to go work 1-cl. :[ Christian took care of me the whole time! He is so caring. Work went okay, I felt a little better once I got there but once I left work my cough got a little bad. So then I decided to grab some rice noodle soup with shrimp and veggies for dinner! Soo yummy with Sriracha sauce. So now I am about to do some math hw before I rest and go to bed. :/

Hope everyone is nice and healthy and had a good weekend!

weekend

I was super excited for the weekend to be here! I haven't done much since I've been so busy with school and I finally had a Friday off so I was happy. I had lunch with my mom and sister, we haven't done that in forever! So it was really great to do that! My friends invited Christian and I to go to HTDJ's that night. It's an event that happens every so often in LA, basically a lot of dancing goes on, fun stuff! I've been to plenty of HTDJ's so why not? I hardly go out, so we figured we would go. It was fun right up until the end. I won't go into much detail but let's just say some boys are rude and disrespectful! I am so happy to have such an amazing man as boyfriend because these boys were such pigs! It was very upsetting.

Saturday was a good day! Had lunch with my family at this yummy Chinese restaurant called Jade Orient. Everything there is so fresh and delicious! After that I had to work 4-cl, which was okayyy. I wasn't feeling too great so I could not wait to clock out! Christian and I had plans to have dinner after I got out of work but since I was feeling nauseous, I didn't want to eat. I hadn't ate since 1 in the afternoon that day so he insisted we go have dinner. We went to Naga Naga, this ramen place in Alhambra. I decided to get the veggie udon and I felt instantly better! I was so scared to eat anything because I felt so gross all day and I had no idea why! The udon was soo good. After that we headed down to his place to watch a movie and cuddle. Overall a very nice Saturday night.

Today I had lunch plans with my friend Tiff! We ended up at this Japanese restaurant by her house and we had some cold soba noodles! Super good. After that, we did a bit of shopping in Old Town Pasadena. I regret it a little now...but what's done is done! I couldn't help it. After shopping I headed home. Once I got home my parents wanted to go out to dinner. They wanted to go to Mako, so of course I said yes! How can I say no to sushi? :]

Now I'm home working on hw! I hope everyone else had a great weekend! I leave you with a few pictures from Friday night:

All ready to go out!

I know, I promised a real update, but I hope this recent picture of me will do for now. I'm studying for my test on Tuesday...I know, studying on a Saturday night? It must be done! Although, in a bit I will be going over to Christian's house for some much needed down time. I had work in the morning today and after I got out I did a bit of window shopping. I'm trying to save! It's just so hard when you work at a clothing store inside a mall! I'm tempted to buy so many things but then I remember: Valentine's day, Mom's birthday, Dad's birthday and Christian's birthday are all within the next month! I'm doing the best that I can. My aunt is over and is making some pasteles de camaron, sooo good!

How is everyone doing with their new year's goals?

Hope all is well! Back to studying. :[

As Promised!

I ended up working New Years Eve on Thursday, which was okay! It was really slow and I couldn't wait to go home to our party! Every New Years Eve since we moved into this house almost 17 years ago, my parents have thrown a shindig! That's well over half my life; it has become a tradition. All of my family, and family friends come and we all have a good time and celebrate! Same food as Christmas is served, a long with some other additional goodies. I wish I could have taken some pictures of the party, but I could not find any of my battery chargers! I have a lot for a reason; always lose them. Anyway, the night was spent drinking, and dancing! It was so much fun. I love my family very much, they are all so lively and fun. I just wished I could have gotten a new years kiss from my amazing boyfriend! But that was okay seeing as though he came home the very next day!

Christian came back on Friday, New Years Day. I was so excited to see him! I could not wait for him to call me to go pick him up at Union Station in downtown. I spent the day cleaning my room, and getting ready before he got in from Florida. Once he called me, I hopped right into my car and headed to downtown. I was so happy to see him! It felt amazing to hug him, cheesy I know, but I can't help it. After I picked him up, we went to his place to drop off his luggage and for him to relax for a bit. I love cuddling with him, we could have done that the whole time but we were both hungry so we decided to get sushi. I enjoy our little sushi dates so much; we might have over done it that night! We were both starving so we ate quite a bit, haha. After we went to Target to buy me some slippers seeing as though I don't have any at his place for when I stay over. I got these super cute sock monkey slippers, oh my gosh. Christian said that if they had them in his size he would have totally bought a pair as well, and we would be nerding out together. I'm on a mission to find some in his size. We then headed off to Blockbuster to rent a movie. We ended up watching Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, it was good! Neither of us got a chance to watch it when it came out in theater earlier last year. Obviously no movie is better than the book, but I think the Harry Potter movies do a good job of depicting the book.

Saturday I worked 4-cl. I've been feeling like this for a couple of months now, but I cannot stand my job anymore. It is so unorganized and unprofessional. I feel physically and emotionally exhausted after I work, and I never feel excited to go to work. I really don't feel any great connections with my co-workers. I just go about my day at work and do what I have to do. I think it's about time I look for another job, but it's so hard now. I don't even know where to begin! :[

Enough about work. Today was a good day on the other hand! I got up, had some cereal for breakfast and then I got a text from Christian asking me if I wanted to go on on a movie date. I obviously said yes. So I got ready and he came around 1pm. The movie didn't start until 2:30 so we grabbed some lunch at Peach Cafe! We both got the Grilled Chicken Club, super good! We watched Avatar; I really enjoyed it! I think Christian thought I wouldn't like it, but I did. I do enjoy Sci-Fi flicks! He seems to think I don't like them, haha. After that he dropped me off since he had plans with his friend, and I had dinner plans with my parents. Guess where we went? Mako sushi! As always. So I had an amazing dinner, and an overall amazing day with Christian and later with my parents.

That's it for now, I want to get some stuff done before bed! Tomorrow is back to the gym! I will make an update on my New Years Goals! For now I will leave you with an adorable, and I swear not staged, picture of my beagles Dexter and Emma:
I swear, I always see Dexter in this plant pot soaking up some rays, and every time I try to get a picture he gets out to play with me. So I took this through our back sliding door. My dogs are the best. :]

weekend

Friday I worked 2-cl, before that I went tot he gym. I was just too tired so I decided to stay in, I shouldn't be spending money right now. I have to buy Christmas presents!

Saturday was a fun day. Christian came over to my house around 11am and we went to Peach Cafe in Old Town Monrovia to grab brunch. Food was delicious as always! I had the Peach Omelet, which had lots of yummy veggies in it! It came with a fruit bowl and home made corn bread(i lovee corn bread). Christian got the bacon and eggs with toast and breakfast potatoes, looked good as well. Everything there is so fresh, one of my new favorite cafes. After brunch, we headed off to Ikea. I needed a new bookshelf since I lost my little shelves on the inside of my closet when we remodeled my room last month. Found one on sale, so I bought it! Christian built it for me, so awesome, and it looks super cute in my room. We watched a movie at my place for a bit, and then he took off since he had dinner plans with one of his friends. When he left, I got ready for my uncles 30th birthday party! It was lots of fun. There was a taco man, I had some of those, they were so amazingly good! There was a lot of drinks as well but I only had a couple because I was driving. They also bought a pinata for him filled with little alcohol bottles, in bubble wrap, super funny! And he had a band playing! Overall a good time with my family. After the party, I went over to Christians. It has been so cold here in Southern California lately! I love it. So we cuddled all night and watched some movies. Perfect day all in all.
Pictures from the party:

On Sunday I woke up superrrrr late! I didn't even think I was that tired. I got up, cleaned my room and took a shower. I had the day off so my parents wanted to grab some dinner. We ended up at Mako, our favorite sushi place to go! Hands down the best sushi ever. We've been going there for years. I got my usual and had some drinks with my parents. After, we went to the Santa Anita Mall in Arcadia to do some Christmas shopping! I'm so glad that I know what I'm getting Christian. I had no clue as to what to get him until Saturday. It's a secret though. ;]
After the mall we went to Target to get Christmas lights! I can't wait to to decorate my house! We're cutting it short.

My favorite roll from Mako! Spicy Scallop cut roll with shrimp tempura and avocado on soy paper, yum:

So that was my weekend! Hope you all had a great one as well!

today

Woke up a little late today, but I did find my book! I was so relieved. I had already read half of it, so I just finished the rest in a jiff. Then, I got ready for class and drove off to Pasadena. Class went great, got an A on my quiz so I was pretty happy. I had no real plans today, but Christian called me and asked if I wanted to grab dinner and watch Fantastic Mr. Fox. I said yes of course!
So we met up in Alhambra and got sushi and drank hot sake for a bit. Then we walked to the theater.

I really enjoyed the movie! I had a smile on my face from the beginning. So if you haven't seen it yet, go and see it! Typical Wes Anderson movie, obviously I know the movie is based on Roald Dahl's book, but I love Wes Anderson, so awesome movie! I have to get up early to run some errands before work! Working 2-cl again, blah. Hope all is well!

monday

Today was a pretty productive day. I haven't had a whole day off in a while so I got to get some errands done. First, I had breakfast with my friend Tiffany at The Peach Cafe in Old Town Monrovia. The food was super fresh! We both had omelets, and shared and half stack of blueberry pancakes, so amazing! Our meals came with some corn bread, which was delicious as well. After Tiff and I hung out for a bit and then I got to running some errands. Took some clothes to the dry cleaner, went to the drug store and picked up some essentials, and then went home to clean my room and do some laundry. I had a nice day, now I'm just relaxing. I'm a little tired but I want to go to the gym so I'm going to drag myself there in a bit.

Blueberry Pancakes!

Happy Monday!

my weekend

Overall I had a really good weekend. Friday, as planned, Christian and I went ice skating in Pasadena, but before that we grabbed sushi at a restaurant called Matsuri that I've always wanted to go to. It was good food! After that we headed down the street to ice skate. It was tons of fun! I don't remember the last time I went ice skating but I do remember being a lot better at it when I was younger. Christian skated circles around me since he use to play hockey when he was younger. I felt bad, I held his hand the whole time because I was so scared of falling. He was a good teacher though, very patient. After a couple of laps I got the hang of it! Later we went to his place and cuddled and had chocolate chip pumpkin cookies and lactose free bryers vanilla ice cream. Totally yummy.

Saturday I worked 10-3 again. I was super tired from the night before since I got home kind of late. I got home around 5ish from work since I did some window shopping. I laid on my couch for a bit to relax, instead I ended up taking an insanely long nap, no bueno! Lately I haven't been getting good sleep, but that's another story. After I woke up from my nap, I had a nice little chat with my best friend Jessica. We ended up grabbing some hot chocolate at Starbucks, I missed her so much! She is such a good friend, and we have such a great understanding with each other. We don't see each other that often since we have different schedules but that's okay. We get it. She's one of those friends that are constant, even if we don't see or talk as much with each other. We're getting matching tattoos soon, excited!

Today I woke up super late! I was so upset at myself, but I just can't sleep lately...I did some cleaning then got ready for work. Work was lame, I'm so happy I worked a short shift today. Christian met up with me at Paseo and we had dinner at La Grande Orange Cafe down the street from my job. Dinner was really great! And the place was super cute. Now I'm relaxing a bit before I get ready for bed. I'm going to read a bit, I know that will help me fall asleep. I want to get up super early to go to the gym and clean some more! I have the day off tomorrow, better be productive.

Hello

I started up a blog again! It is my goal to try and keep this one updated as much as possible.

It's the holiday season and I love it! And because of that I've been in a crazy, baking mood! The most recent thing I baked is the Tiramisu Layer Cake to your right. It was my first time attempting this recipe, and it turned out super yummy! I modified the recipe a bit so I was a little worried at first, but that went away once I got the taste approval of my boyfriend.

Tonight, Christian and I are going to try and attempt to watch Precious in Pasadena. We've been wanting to watch it but each time we try to something comes up! We either get caught up at dinner, or we go the opening night of New Moon...who knew you couldn't watch something other than New Moon that night?! So we'll see how that goes. Tomorrow, my friends and Christian are coming over for a Pre-Thanksgiving potluck. Should be fun! Lots of food and wine!

And then Thursday is Thanksgiving! I'm super excited to eat amazing food, and spend time with my family. I get to make my famous pumpkin bread and green bean casserole. Yumm. I have to work on Black Friday, but it's not too bad! Working 10-3, I got super lucky. Later that day Christian and I are going ice skating, I can't wait!

I'm sooo sore from working out, I love it. Have to work on some hw before class!
